 • Plant Providence: Soil Remediation. SATURDAY, April 7th 10-11am at Sidewalk Ends Farm (47 Harrison St).

Neighborhood Hub Launch. SATURDAY Apr. 14th (raindate: April 21st)

Features compost and seed distribution for members of the Providence Community Growers Network, including a free Beginning Growers Workshop for the public. SCLT is opening 3 neighborhood Hubs:

• Southside: Davey Lopes Recreation Center, 227 Dudley Street * 10am-1pm

• West end: Groundwork Providence Garden, 14-18 Ring Street* 10am-1pm

• Olneyville: Manton Ave. Community Garden, 40 Florence Street* 12-3pm

Plant Providence: Taming your Tomatoes. SATURDAY May 5th, 10-11:30am. Fox Point Community Garden (Gano St. & Power St.)

20th Annual Rare & Unusual Plant Sale. SATURDAY and SUNDAY, May 19th and 20th, 10am – 2pm at City Farm (at the corner of West Clifford and Dudley Streets)

In honor of the Plant Sale’s 20th year, City Farm will feature 20 favorite plants and perennials chosen by long‐term volunteers and friends of SCLT.

Plant Providence: Rain Barrels and Water Conservation. WEDNESDAY May 23rd, 6-7pm at Wilson Community Garden (Wilson & Gilmore St.)

Plant Providence: Ethnic Food Growing. SATURDAY May 26th, 10-11am. Burnett Community Garden (Burnett & Bucklin St.).

Learn about growing different types of ethnic vegetables and herbs and how to cook with them, like ginger, sweet potato leaves, bitter melon, and more!

June

• Organic Pest Control Workshop (FREE). SATURDAY June 2, 9:30-11am. Roger Williams Park Community Garden (hosted by Roger Williams Park/URI Outreach)

Plant Providence: Container Gardening. SATURDAY June 16, 10-11am. 9 Hammond Street.

Plant Providence: Beginning Organic Grower Series II: Weeding, Harvesting, and Cultivating Fall Crops (FREE).

* SATURDAY July 21, 10-11am at Bridgham Street Community Garden (Bridgham St. & Westminster St.) and Templot Community Garden (40 Appleton St. in Olneyville)

* WEDNESDAY July 25, 5:30-6:30pm at Greenwich Street Community Garden (Greenwich St. Between Bucklin St. and Potters Ave.) in SPANISH.

• Plant Providence: Winter Greens & Low Tunnels. SATURDAY Sept. 1, 10-11am. Peace & Plenty Community Garden (89 Peace St.). Hmong Translation Provided.

• Composting 101 (FREE) . SATURDAY Sept. 15, 9-11am at Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, hosted by URI Outreach.

Plant Providence: Urban Chickens II: Chicken care and preparing for winter. SATURDAY Sept. 22, 11am-1pm at 286 Rochambeau Ave.

Plant Providence: Medicinal Herbs and Foraging. SATURDAY Sept. 22, 3-5pm at Farmacy Herbs (22 Cemetery St.)

• Late Sept.: Open Garden Day Tour and Bike Ride. TBA.

Learn more about the diversity of community gardens in Providence on foot or on bike. Finish with a garden‐fresh harvest potluck afterwards and connect with fellow urban gardeners and neighbors!

SCLT’s beloved Harvesting Hope event is back! In2012, Harvesting Hope will be an early evening, rather than early morning, event. Still featuring the inspiring stories and delicious fare that have made this our signature fundraising event.
